Consumed A Novel of Extreme Horror and Gore eBook Matt Shaw
This is the second book I've read by Shaw and let's be honest and save the wrong people the hassle of reading this book. This is extreme, and violent and yes, even disturbing. The thing that I like about Shaw is that he doesn't just pile on the gore like some splatterpunk writers. There's a method to the madness and that is where Shaw hooks you in. We know what's going to happen, but Shaw strings you along for awhile and you become absorbed in the story. Fans of films like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or even books like Richard Laymon's The Woods Are Dark know what's in store for these characters, but Shaw takes a left and presents a new spin on a classic premise. This what makes Shaw so good. He isn't just a writer going for the gross out. He puts a reassuring arm around your shoulder and when you least expect he cuts your throat. He writes for the intelligent horror fans. The ones that enjoy a bit of violence and mayhem. He slowly build the tension and then he unleashes hell. We know it's not going to end well, but Shaw is such a good story teller that you can't stop reading even when you feel a bit queasy.
Splatterpunk fans should read Shaw. Horror fans should even read Shaw because he's one of those horror writers that continually release good books that expose us to the dark side of human nature. Consumed may not be for everyone but for those who like their horror dark and violent this is a book you should read.

Consumed A Novel of Extreme Horror and Gore eBook Matt Shaw Reviews
Anything by Matt shaw is excellent. Great author and thee only horror author I read now. So many stories and I haven't caught up yet
I have loved all that I have read by Matt Shaw. This book in particular was more than I expected. In all honesty, I thought maybe just a little horror, creepy, whatever; and was I wrong! Matt creeped me out so badly with this book. I was eating my lunch as I was reading and had to quit...eating I mean. He is an author to watch! Great Read!!
I love reading Matt's books! I am never disappointed! As a big fan of his writing ,I completed this book in one sitting! Just couldn't put it down. I wanted to know what happened, and I still wonder what's to happen...... I'm not one to give spoilers! But I hope there is more to this story! If you are a fan of Matt's and his book, please go and pick up this book, you won't be disappointed!

Author states up front he has every intention of making you uncomfortable, and he delivers on that promise. Not the most original premise, but it does what it's meant to do, which is make you cringe even as you keep turning the pages just to see what sickness the author has in store next.
Avoid if you're squeamish, but if you enjoyed old-school horror like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the newer Hatchet franchise, CONSUMED is worth your time.
I must say that Matt Shaw has become one of my favorite horror authors. This book reminded me of the movie's Wrong Turn and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Read along as some friends decide to go on a camping trip. Well their motor vehicle run out of gas and along come a friendly face offering some help. I give this engaging 5 star book two thumbs up !
This story was great in all aspects of gore, weirdness, horror, and unknown. It did a little time to get moving (45%) though. Four young people go on a camping trip and they have car trouble. Typical right? Not this time! The family they meet are crazy and each person has a little bit of a different character flaw or something going on. The characters are all very strange and creepy. Ending provides possible set up for a sequel... which would be awesome!
Having read this after reading some of Matt Shaw's later works is probably why, in my mind, I give this one 3.7 stars which I've rounded to 4 instead of 3 to be fair. People claiming it's predictable... did you not read the title, or the product description. You know from the outset of the story (and the title) that these young characters who experience a car breakdown are in for a world of hurt when they think they are being helped. If you found it "too gross" or "too much gore", once again, it's displayed right on the cover by saying "some scenes may disturb". I personally thought it was a good story, and especially enjoyed the ending. Don't want to spoil it but the thought that crossed my mind was, "Sorry bud!"
